Provide Prosthetics for Students Impacted by the Recent Student Movement 2024
22 August 2024
Let’s Work For Bangladesh (LWFB) have been supporting the underprivileged population in Bangladesh for the last 15 years. Among the key ongoing projects following are the most timely and impactful:
- Scholarships that empower disadvantaged meritorious students with scholarships through Grameen Shikkha/ Direct and
- Prosthetics through TMSS for underprivileged who otherwise cannot afford the needed treatments.
As LWFB learnt more about how many Bangladeshi people (students and general public) have tragically lost their limb(s) during the recent protests, we started working in the background with orthopaedic surgeons, hospitals and institutions to put together a list of patients whom we can support. We are continuing to work with Dr. Raquib Manzur at the National Institute of Traumatology & Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (NITOR) who has confirmed 11 patients who will need prosthetics. Dr. Shahid Akhan from the Dhaka Medical College Hospital is working on a second group of patients and will confirm a final list in the coming days.
If you are aware of individuals who has lost a limb due to the recent movement, please share their contact details with us.
LWFB in collaboration with TMSS will fund and organise artificial limbs / prosthetics for the patients in this 1st phase after due diligence and verification. Your cooperation and generous donations will make a significantly positive impact to the lives of many who has gone through such traumatic and heartbreaking incidents.
